Thoughts to Remember projects to help you remember things you don't want to forget. Are you a crafter wanting to create or an artist wanting a warm up or relaxing project or just an everyday person with a desire to create and remember...Let's make some projects to help us remember things we often forget. Like how amazing you are or how grateful or that it is time to be brave or pray first. Join me (Jeanie) to create an 8x10 canvas panel with wire hanger, a wood block with words on all sides and a bonus project.

Supply items can be purchased at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby (remember to use coupons) or Walmart or your local hobby shop.

Supplies: (Pictures and video coming next week)
canvas panel (thin ones not wood panels although you can)I used 8x10. they come in 3 packs and range in prices from 1.97-5.97 if you can not get these another option is to do the project on watercolor paper and frame it.

wood block I used a 2x4 approximately 5 inches long…Does not have to be exact size- use what you can find. One way to get wood blocks is to buy them or go to lumber stores and ask for end cuts/scraps or if you have anyone you know that is a construction person they may have scraps.  If you can not find any wood blocks then use a 4x6, 5x7 or 4x4 etc thick canvas.

Paint Brushes…1 inch flat brush or a foam brush. Also a round brush depends on how big you want your flowers so smaller flowers #4 round larger flowers a #8.

Modpodge or your favorite brand.

Book Paper— vintage ledger, music or dictionary are my favorite. use what you have.

wire to hang canvas panel by if you have a drill or WER memory keepers crop-a-dile to punch holes. (FYI the canvas panel in the supply kit will come with the holes and wire)

Paint- Craft paint works again use what you already have. black, cream I like linen color, white, burnt umber, green, gold, and 2 of your favorite colors for the main flowers (red, turquoise blue, or pink)

black pen for details Signo micro 207 Walmart or Target.

Sayings and patterns download for you to print.

Optional:
Ribbon to have a bow on wire

Faber Castell art markers to shade with
Leather cuff for bonus project.

journals

I am from Cheyenne Wyoming but have lived many places. I have been married to David for 38 years we have 4 children and 11 grand children. Life has brought many ups and downs and surprises. I am an artist and art journal maker and i have taught lots of crafts along the way. Through everything life has thrown my way the thing I KNOW is art soothes the soul and God heals the heart.

How about a free download/printable since it may take a while to get a video tutorial here. We my kids were small we tried to get them to understand the spirit of Christmas was Christ. This is an art piece I did a few years ago to help remember that.

remember you can download by clicking then right clicking -save to-when you go to print you should be able to tell your printer what size or how many on a page to print. Please remember that i retain all copyrights to this art. it is for your personal use ONLY.

Scripture, art journal prompt

I just wanted to take a minute to think of Joseph in Matthew 1:18-25. This describes a man of humility, obedience, consideration and slow to anger. He took the time to ponder pause and listen to God. What a great example......of only we could find more of this in the men today, in ourselves. Was he this way because he was there living in that time? Was he taught these things and sought after them? I think we have a lot to learn from this man Joseph.

ART journal time:
lets do a quick sketch or paint over of a thoughtful man.....
sketch a man and write a scripture from the above verse or your feelings about Joseph or a word that would describe him.
not comfortable with sketching then find a picture of a thoughtful man on the internet or magazine and print a size that will fit in your art journal and print it out......we will do a paint over be back Monday with demo.
not an art journal but want to participate? then layer scrapbook paper and add a picture of someone in your life (child, spouse, father) to layer on.

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

hello friends,
it is january, 1 2014. i have pondered what word to focus on in 2014 and what i might want to work on....but i kept seeing this art i did last year.   i still find it amazing it is now a stamp at unity stamp company. a fun opportunity in 2013 that i hope carries over to 2014. i had chosen focus as my word for 2013....focus on art, following through on digital art, sell both, focus on me and my marriage....but then the babes came and i lost focus of all that and my focus became my daughter, who struggled with severe post-partem depression. i thought it was my job to keep her alive and the babes safe....a daunting task and a roller coaster ride. she has shown great strength and determination to overcome this illness and she is an incredible mother. she also went to college full time this fall. we are still working on sleeping issues for everyone....we never get enough especially my daughter. back to 2014....i don't know what is coming but i just keep thinking how the Savior is our greatest gift....he gave his life to me and you. so what gifts am i giving back or am i just floating along....2013 was a survival year.....but i want 2014 to be more....to stay OPEN to giving Christ a gift....open hearted, open to art and opportunity, open to being a better person, wife, mother and nana. i won't have anymore time then before but if i am open minded and hearted i can be open to be in the moment and give freely kind words and love. i can be open to choose happiness....and open to let others choose who they want to be without it hurting me.  i think life is not so much about resolutions but living a life to be better today then yesterday....and sometimes goals help us get there....sometimes a word helps guide us to a better place....i think life is about keeping the greatest gift in our hearts everyday of the year and not just holidays that will help us become a better person.

what words, gifts, hopes or fears do you have for 2014?

ps in 2014 i will be doing an inspirational tuesday tag tutorial on my other blog www.jeaniesdesignstudio.blogspot.com it will include my heart...art, unity stamps and whatever art supplies are with in reach that tuesday.....join me next week....jan 7, 2014.

new samples

I was lucky enough to be part of a great group and guest design for Susan K Weckesser. I wanted to create a few more samples for Susan K Weckesser

so first up is a card....i used the cards from Michaels dollar bin 4 cards with envelops for $1.00 quick and easy just start embellishing and adding a stamped image. so I did do a little mixed media to this one by gessoing a rectangle to layer the stamped image on and then stamp a background stamp on it. washed the whole card with golden fluid raw umber paint. some tissue tape on ribbon and ribbon loops stapled on then foam taped the house on....
stamps can be found here

next up is a leather cuff....

back 2 school blog hop

Welcome to the 2013 Susan K Weckesser Inc Design Team Back 2 School Blog Hop.  Our Design Team and Guest Designers have created a week’s worth of great projects to bring you inspiration and fun -- all themed around Back 2 School. We encourage you to visit each member’s blog, leave a comment and maybe find a new blog to follow. After you have visited all participating team member’s blogs, go back to THE STARTING POST at Susan K Weckesser’s My Sweet Earth Blog and leave a comment letting us know which project either inspired you or touched your heart. Don’t worry, you have all week to take your time and go through the blogs. We’ll feature a few each day at Susan K Weckesser Inc, but will draw names from comments left on THE STARTING POST for our grand prize.
Here is the list for ALL team members, but again don’t panic, we will highlight a few each day so you can come back and visit a few at a time if you want because we know how busy you Moms – and Dads – are! You have until Saturday night 11:55 PM CST to leave a comment at Susan K Weckesser’s My Sweet Earth.
prize package.....come play along.

my project
I started with a clay pot and painted it with gesso. then i used some paint and dry brushed it around and some color shine for shimmer affect. I gathered stamps and papers by Susan K Weckesser

I cut a styrofoam ball to fit in the bottom of the clay pot and glued moss on top to hide it. I recycled the star clip that had broke off something store bought....you could use a binder clip or alligator clip glued on to a dowel then wrap ribbon on it and tie a bow....use strong glue like e6000.

the stamps are from Unity stamp co.  Susan's are here and the dream hope do is here
i stamped and watercolored banners and sayings and Susan's sweet bird, oh and the houses for the note....by the way my daughter in law Mrs. Dickinson is a teacher. i used Susan's paper from want2scrap. the black birds are metal from either Michael's or Hobby Lobby on sale.

a little twine and ribbon to finish it off.

the nice thing i can do up different saying to clip in...and enjoy or give as a gift.  THANK YOU so much for coming by.
